About the Process

So you're interested in a portrait!  What should you expect from the process?

First, you'll need to decide what size painting or drawing you'd like, how many people (or animals) will be in the composition, and whether you'd prefer color or black and white.

Since I work from photos, next you'll send me the photo you're considering (or several, and we can choose the one that will work best) and we'll discuss any details and ideas you may have.  Feel free to throw all your crazy ideas at me- sometimes I can accommodate them, and sometimes I can't!  Then I can give you accurate pricing.  My price list is a general guideline, but sometimes there will be elements that can make the price go up or down.

Once we've agreed to the size and price, you'll pay a deposit, and then I can get to work!  Depending on the size and my current orders, I can usually turn things around within a week or two. Let me know if you need something quickly- I can usually accommodate rush orders!  If you're local, we can meet in person once I'm done, or I can ship the piece to you directly.

I use acrylic paints, and depending on the substrate I use (art board or canvas), your piece will be ready to be framed or hung as-is on the wall.  Let me know which you plan to do, and I'll choose the substrate that will work best for you.

I can also do colored pencil portraits, so inquire if that's something you're interested in!

It's such a great opportunity to own a piece of art that will surely become a treasure for your family!
